SyllabusCourse Description:Vietnamese 185 is the second of the four Vietnamese courses offered by Coastline Community College, emphasizing on pronunciation and grammar, high basic vocabulary, common idioms, listening, speaking, reading and writing complex Vietnamese sentences. In other words, students are expected to acquire aural and oral skills with distinction of linguistic features, especially the word usage of the Vietnamese language. They are also expected to be able to read long paragraphs from textbooks or selected clips from newspapers or magazines whose terms are within the corpus vocabulary. Lastly, students are expected to acquire the ability of writing compound and complex sentences frequently used in conversations, in notes or personal letters. These four skills will enable students to endear themselves with some knowledge of present Vietnamese culture. These goals will be enhanced through in-class discussions as well as supplementary materials occasionally brought in by the instructor. Course requirements:
