Instructor Information
Dear Student:
Welcome to your Instructional Internet-based course.
YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Margaret "Marg" Taylor
As your instructor, I will be assisting you throughout the course.
As long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a teacher. In 1976 I joined
the staff of Coastline Community College and began a wonderful journey where
I have been able to help people feel proud of themselves because they know
how to use computer technology and English confidently and well.
Each day I am amazed to find new ways to use Microsoft®
Word. People often think of word processing in a general form: type,
proofread, edit, save, and print letters and memos. Well, there is so much
more.
Please check out the Project Samples' link to see marvelous samples of
projects former students have created and submitted that relate to the areas
of Word they have studied. We offer BC 147, 148A-1, B-1, C-1, D. All
1.5-unit courses are available as online courses. On occasion we offer BC
148E - Tips and Tricks for the Microsoft Word User. Check out the projects for
each of these classes. You'll be thrilled with what you will be able to do.
Coastline's Word course offerings are varied:

We offer many certificate
programs that include Microsoft® Word courses; BC 107AB, BC 108, and BC
109AB (Keyboarding, Data Entry, and Keyboarding Speed Building); English
105: Business English; OAC 112:
Office Organization; Business Writing 135: Business Writing; and many other
courses. When you click on the certificate programs' link, look at the
right-hand column. You will see Administrative Assistant, Legal Secretary,
Office Support Specialist, and PC Support. Completion of a certificate of
achievement might just be the difference between your getting the job or a
promotion instead of someone who has not completed a specified course of
study.
Please make an appointment to talk to a counselor or me when you want to work
toward a certificate.
My areas of expertise are Microsoft® Word,
English 105-Business English, English 135-Business Writing,
Student Success Center English skills, keyboarding, data entry,
keyboarding skill building, and office organization. These skills
allow me to feel a sense of power when working in the office,
composing all types of documents, keyboarding, managing projects and time,
and speaking because they work so well together.
English 105 helps people use grammar, punctuation,
spelling, proper word use, proofreading, and composition in a business or
home environment. English 105 points out all of those things about English
that make people feel stupid. Many people find it has been a long
time since they studied English. Yes, the rules have changed!
The Student Success Center offers online .5-unit English grammar,
punctuation, and business writing courses that are open-entry/open-exit
through the twelfth week of each semester. I also teach these. The
Student Success Center also offers math tutoring. Call 714.241.6184,
ext. 17419, and ask for information about tutoring services.
English 135 offers students the opportunity to learn how to write powerful
business documents of all types as well as present these ideas clearly and
colorfully. Soon this class will be online.
Keyboarding , Business English 105, Business Writing 135, and all levels
of Microsoft® Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and the Internet classes are the
winning combinations for your success in today's business, technical,
professional, and personal computing world. If you have not worked in an
office before, please use the Office Support Specialist certificate
as a guide to entry-level courses.
Several times a day, seven days a week, I read and respond to the
Discussion Forum. The Discussion Forum format
allows each of you to interact with me and each other. Please read all
messages and responses. If you know the answer to another student’s question
or questions, please feel free to respond. When you post a message for me at
the Discussion Forum, please create a new message each time. I respond
faster to new messages because I tend to look at the top of the Discussion
Forum instead of scrolling through the old messages.
Please ask me questions; the questions you are asking are probably those
someone else wants to ask but is afraid to.
If you have a confidential or personal question, please e-mail or phone
me.

Discussion Forum
Professor Taylor answers Discussion Forum questions
regularly. Other students may also answer your question if they know the
answer.
This is a terrific way to communicate. |
