How This Course Will Flow

Although there are 7 chapters in the text and 16 modules, most of the chapters need more than one week to discuss. Therefore, I have divided most chapters into two modules, or material that we will take two weeks to cover. Some chapters will not be discussed or quizzed, but are available for your reading enjoyment.

I strongly advise you to read all the information on Quizzes, Exam Information and Reviews, Required Essays, Important Dates, and Extra Credit. Regularly check the Class Discussion Board for course updates and information.

You will have a short on-line quiz approximately every two modules. Look up the appropriate quiz and print it out for your use. The quiz questions are by chapter and cover the material in the text, my notes on the modules and terms pertinent to the chapter. The terms are found in the chapter or you may look them up in the text’s Glossary. You should answer the questions as you progress in your reading. When the quiz is due, go online and complete the quiz using the responses you have on your printed copy. Your score will be automatically forwarded to your e-mail address.

There is a REQUIRED two page paper that describes your actual experience of an art museum or gallery visit. For details, click on MUSEUM/GALLERY REPORT.

The MID-TERM will cover chapters 17, 18, and 19. Material to know is discussed on text MID-TERM REVIEW. The midterm is a proctored exam.

The FINAL exam covers chapters 26 through 29. The material to know will be covered in the FINAL REVIEW. The exam is online. Your grade will be posted within a few days.

You will have the opportunity to earn up to 20 points of EXTRA CREDIT by reporting on another visit to a museum or gallery. An additional 10 points may be earned by visiting a virtual museum on-line and reporting (one page) on it.
